So, I've been inducted in to the hall of bass trombonists now. This is something I've wanted to do for a while, but I've never had the opportunity to, despite always being forced to attempt the bass trombone parts. At my request I am going to use my university's bass trombone to play with in the concert group, and if I stick with this and take it seriously I figure I should be able to pass for a bass trombone player in a few years.

Right now here's how the groups I'm playing with are going:
1. Bass trombone in the concert group
2. Lead trombone (it's not the bass part on a tenor!!! being in a university does have its advantages) part in the second tier jazz band (more education than performance focused, with people on second instruments and people who aren't very good at jazz, or both), played on my old small bore from middle school.
3. Large bore in private lessons and our 8 or so man strong trombone choir.

I'm getting the opportunity to work on all kinds of things now, so I'm excited. This is pretty good.

By the way, if I ever wanted to get my own bass trombone, what would the price range be for a decent used horn with two triggers? Given that I have limited funds to put towards this kind of thing...

Any advice for an aspiring bass trombone doubler?
